Acquired Dad's Fidgey

   The engine of an old moving truck comes to a sputtering stop as it pulls up outside of a quaint house. The back opens, and a young boy jumps down excitedly. This is his family's new home, and with it, a new adventure! He jams his hand into his pocket and pull's out his dad's old Fidgey; the children's battle toy sweeping the nation. This is his key to traveling across the world battling other Fidgey owners and becoming the greatest Fidgey Battler of all time! 

   Across the street, however, sits the main character of our story, Ricky Liques, looking out the window of the orphanage he lives in. He watches as the boy his age begins the adventure that he himself has dreamt of for oh so long. What he doesn't know is that he will soon begin an adventure of his own...

   This is my entry into the GB Pixel Art Jam 2023. This is my first entry into any sort of jam and I'm pretty happy with how it came out. The inspiration for this piece and this story comes from the real life fidget cubes created by Antsy Labs. During a really stressful point in my life, the fidget cube I'd been gifted helped me stay grounded and mentally focused. Through that mental focus, I came up with the idea of a world where children and adults alike battle each other using customizable fidget cubes called Fidgeys. This piece is really the first time I've shared anything regarding Fidgey with "the public." The dream is to eventually create a game to really develop and flesh out the ridiculous world of Fidgey. Think the absurdity of Yugioh, combined with a "The Goonies" type adventure, propelled by a Pokémon style battle system.  Feedback on the piece is welcome and I hope at least one person is intrigued by the premise and idea of Fidgey!
